Paddle ‘n’ Ski Hadspen Race 23 January 2018

The heat was on the water again this week with some ripper times at the front of the pack. Amanda was first over the line with a 4:17 improvement from last week, 2:30 faster than her all time PB, great paddle. Next over the line was Chris Schulz completing his time trial after battling hard with Beth for the length of the short course; Beth being 3 minutes faster than last week, getting into the groove in the new boat. Phil Nelson was next over the line 30 seconds up on his best followed by Geoff who managed an 11 second PB (still not under 35 though). Phil Barratt chased hard but couldn’t close the gap and just missed out on a PB; April followed just a touch down on her best. Next over the line were the swimming doctors, Richard and Ken, both swam, but managing to be within 90 seconds of their best after the cooling dip were good efforts. Claye narrowly beat James, passing him in the final meters, while Jozina rounded out the field showing signs of improvement in the new boat.

With 6 weeks of handicap racing remaining the leaderboard is starting to look interesting, with Phil Nelson holding out the top spot, Amanda closing after two big weeks and consistent results from Phil Barratt, Geoff and Ken holding them near the top.

Guntime for next week will be at 6:30pm. If you miss your start time you can still race, have your time recorded and score points. New paddlers will be able to set their handicap time. If you are starting more than 20 minutes after your handicap you may be asked to race a shorter course to ensure on water safety.
