Paddle ‘n’ Ski Hadspen Race 27 February 2018

Another good night for racing with low flows and an acceptable amount of water keeping the weed out of reach, seven paddlers making it around the course in personal best times including the season fastest time for Phil Barratt. Beth, as is becoming usual, had a good paddle and got over the line first a bit over a minute faster than her previous best, Amanda was around 45 seconds faster than her short course best time to be second. Phil Barratt had a quick paddle being the first for the season to go under 34 minutes on the long course, Phil Wadley was next over the line with a 15 second PB followed by James (10 seconds), Phil Nelson and Michael both a handful of seconds faster. Setting up a battle for fastest time on the course for next week with Geoff, Phil Barratt and Michael all within 12 seconds and all on the improve in recent weeks. Some good paddling from those further down the list with no one too far off there best times.

Big thanks to Geoff for timing, loaning me his boat (it was a bit dusty, so I washed it out) and for watching Barney during the race. Race times are below.

One final week of handicap racing next Tuesday, before a short race and the end of season BBQ on 13th March. Guntime for next week will be at 6:30pm. If you miss your start time you can still race, have your time recorded and score points. New paddlers will be able to set their handicap time. If you are starting more than 20 minutes after your handicap you may be asked to race a shorter course to ensure on water safety.
