Paddle ‘n’ Ski Hadspen Race 14 November 2017

Hadspen Race 14-11-2017, Adam Rolls

A hot day was hot on the water with some cracking times and a tight bunch fighting out the minor placings. We welcomed back Amanda, April and Jozina for their first races of the season and they put in some solid time trial times to set up their season. Beth and Phil stepped up to take on the 3.9km course and made good time with Beth being the faster of the pair to set up a good battle for next week. In the long course race Chris made use of his newly found course experience to put in a cracking time and take the race win. Phil Nelson got back into a more familiar craft and made good time to get over the line in second. A bunch of 5 paddlers pushed each other hard to all finish within 13 seconds of each other all being around a minute faster than expected. Paul held off a fast finishing Phil Barratt, followed by Richard, James Caspar and Claye. Phil being relegated down the finish order after heading off early. James Down, Pete and Tim all worked hard in the heat but couldn’t get down to their personal best times.

The race times are all below, I have calculated a 6.5km handicap time for those who have paddled the 3.9km course to allow you to step up when you feel like it.

Guntime for next week will be at 6:30pm. If you miss your start time you can still race, have your time recorded and score points. New paddlers will be able to set their handicap time. If you are starting more than 20 minutes after your handicap you may be asked to race a shorter course to ensure on water safety.
