A good night for paddling with the water level up and flowing it was a good chance for those with good river reading skills to make up some lost ground. There were a couple of close battles for the night, Claye worked hard to chase down Jono and then had to work hard to stay in front as they went to the line, both achieving PB’s of around 1:45, great job guys. Paul chased hard to catch me with a hundred metres to go before giving me a sniff but he had more left in the tank and got across a boat length ahead, both around 20 seconds off our PB’s. The next group was Mark, Geoff and Bill about a minute down and then Richard off his usual long handicap. Phil paddled a good time but set off early and was relegated to the bottom of the race list.
