Predictions of poor weather turned out to be unfounded with a pleasant breeze blowing, and clear skys overhead. A reasonable turnout for such a nice night headed off for the final handicap race for the year. First of the handicappers across the line was April, knocking a couple of minutes off her PB, apparently paddling more than once a week works. Bill continued his steady march of improvement, a bit over a minute this week; next over the line was a group of six in 23 seconds. Colin was 30 seconds, Ken 27, Michael 24, Andrew 22, Phil Nelson 17, and James 6 seconds imporvement; great effort guys. Phil Barratt was the first of the misses, just 20 seconds off; Paul run down Claye just pipping him on the line in a finish that was very close. The handicapper missed that Dane’ didn’t have her partner in crime and was paddling the single tonight setting her off a bit later than would have been preferred.
Amanda and Donelda raced the 4 km course with both showing some quick times. We also welcomed a racer from way back with Pete Sebbage doing his time trial in a pretty solid time, he will be in the thick of the action soon.
I will pat myself on the back for timing. We have the end of year BBQ after next weeks race so make sure you get along for a good time to catch up with other paddlers and a different race format. Results are below.
