A beautiful night to be on the water and a great night for speed.
With a fine day with no wind, the dam high and the river barely moving it was a night for speed with a number of paddlers taking advantage of the great conditions to post some solid times. Leading the charge was April Nelson, knocking 80 seconds of her season best. Next across the line in a course record time was Michael Hanemaayer, with a time of 29:43, 32 seconds faster than the course record. Phil Nelson held off a couple of fast finishers in Micheal Peters and Simon, all paddling season bests of 17 s, 16 s and 15 s respectively. Yann also got across the line with a personal best of 5 s.
Phil Barratt was next across the line 4 s off his season best. Newcomer Andrew Howell was next over the line with a solid first up time of 35:24. Paul Walker and Peter both just missed the minute milestones near the personal bests being 32 s and 44 s off their times. Showing a slow return to form was Claye with his fastest time for a month. Mark was about 90 seconds off his season best, while Richard was around the same off his own delayed handicap.
