Rhe Tamar Canoe Club is having an open day/ get together out at Mill Dam, Longford on Sunday March 1st. We hope to get as many members as possible along for a chance to catch up and have a paddle of some sort. We would also like to extend the opportunity for family members, and new paddlers to come and have a go, or those who haven’t paddled for a while to reacquaint themselves with a spot of paddling. There will be a range of paddling activities to get involved in. A rough outline for the day is:
We will run a number of river trips on the Macquarie River from Woolmers down to Mill Dam, Approx 2 hrs, suited to paddlers who can control their kayak on flat water. See below.
9am: Paddle power junior river trip. Woolmers to Mill Dam.

10am: General river trip open to all. Woolmers to Mill Dam.

12 noon: Women’s river trip from Woolmers to Mill Dam.

1pm onwards Canoe Polo. For all those who are hanging out for the polo season to start, a chance to get a game or two under your belt. Suitable for all levels from beginners to more experienced players. Girls, guys, young, and the young at heart.
All Day Surfing on the wave at Mill dam. Water level permitting.
Beginners flat water session. Chance to try out paddling for the first time or improve your skills with the help of an instructor. Mill Dam picnic area.
There will be a range of equipment available for those who would like to try some paddling but don’t have their own equipment. Canoe polo equipment will be provided.
Bring some lunch and a drink as well as all your paddling gear.
There will be a BBQ available so bring something to throw on it if you like.
